DISNEY LAND OF FURNITURE

Welcome to the Disney Land of Furniture. High Point Market is the largest furniture industry trade show in the world. Taking place in High Point, North Carolina, this massive show represents over 100 countries, spans over 180 buildings, has 11.5 million square feet of show space, over 2000 exhibitors, and 75,000 attendees from all walks of life. 10% of whom are international—Many people I spoke with said they had to stay up to 70 miles away from the show due to high attendance. It’s no wonder it takes place twice a year.
While I was unable to see everything High Point had to offer, I would like to share my take on trends in furniture design and some of the companies that caught my eye based on what I was able to view during my visit to High Point.
Overall, the trend among the show felt like design was reverting back towards 80’s American style. This was evident through the use of different materials, textures, shapes, scales, and styles of fearless design.
My absolute favorite company from the show is Luna Bella. The furniture that nourishes all five senses and make you feel you are wrapped in a blanked while providing for mechanical elegance and contemporary vintage flair.
Designer Teresa Costa is talented, hard-working, visionary and more. You can sense from her designs a unique talent that she expressed early on with her love for fine art, and her extensive travels. Teresa’s artistic passion began at the age of 12 when she began painting with oils.

Launching her company Luna Bella, Inc in 1995 Teresa Costa successfully established herself as a unique designer of an expansive line of lighting, clocks, furniture, and accessories.
